Overlooking Grapevine Lake, this contemporary home demanded surfaces that could hold their own against the sweeping water views. The client, an architect herself, wanted the kitchen to feel like a natural extension of the landscape.

Taj Mahal quartzite was the clear choice for the main surfaces — its soft golden tones echo the Texas sunsets visible through the panoramic windows. We paired it with a soapstone prep island that adds depth and a tactile, lived-in quality that the family loves.

The waterfall edges on the main island create clean vertical lines that mirror the home's modernist architecture, while the quartzite's organic movement prevents the space from feeling sterile.
